Cross-country skiing

University Sports offers courses in skating and classic techniques for beginners and experienced cross-country skiers. 

At weekends, we organise cross-country skiing courses lasting several days in Goms. During the cross-country skiing week and the snow sports camp taking place at the same time, you also have the opportunity to explore not only the trails in Goms but also the slopes in the Aletsch Arena.

Competitions

In addition to courses, University Sports also offers the opportunity to take part in competitions. If you're interested in entering the Engadin Skimarathon, it is possible to book overnight accommodation including on-site support and advice – including ski preparation – in cooperation with other Swiss university sports organisations.

The Swiss Academic Ski Club is offering advanced cross-country skiers the opportunity to participate in the Gommerlauf 2026 as part of the SUS Nordic Event..

Hire of equipment

Would you like to use your own skating equipment throughout the season? Then we offer you the option of seasonal rental. You can find the terms and conditions for equipment rental here.

For day courses in the Bern area, we recommend renting your equipment from the following providers in Bern and the surrounding area:

Advance booking of equipment is essential. Please state your foot size, weight and height when booking. Please also indicate whether you require skating or classic equipment.

For courses in Goms, we recommend hiring equipment directly on site.
